Decision making in policy setting can be an enormously complicated task. One needs to be able to foresee the consequences of decisions, while minding costs, time and effort required. While some may prefer using poll results to guide their judgment, Paweł would like to advocate for a rigorous process of using computer models and simulations to find the best solution for complex problems.
The presentation gives an introduction to how modelling and simulation can be used to help decision making. It is aimed as a general introduction to the topic and suitable for a wide audience. Approximately half of the presentation will be used to introduce important concepts and the other half to demonstrate interactively a number of models.
